Before we do anything, we assess. Natural wood cabinets develop a patina over time — and that character is worth preserving. But sun exposure can affect certain areas unevenly, leaving some doors faded or discolored while the rest still look great. We identify those areas honestly, and we tell you exactly what we recommend before any work begins.

Scenario 1: Uneven Patina
Natural wood patina is one of the most beautiful things about custom cabinetry. It’s also one of the hardest things to control once sun exposure starts working unevenly. Before touching anything, we identify which doors and drawer fronts have taken the most UV damage. Our recommendation is almost always targeted: we refinish only the pieces that truly need it — applying stain carefully to restore the finish and match the existing color — while the rest of the cabinets receive our standard Refresh & Care service. The result: your cabinets look consistent and cared-for, the natural patina is preserved, and you didn’t pay for work that wasn’t necessary.
Scenario 2: Deteriorated Finish
Sometimes the existing finish is past the point of touch-ups. If an area is cracking, lifting, or coming off at the touch, a surface treatment won’t hold — and covering it without addressing it properly would be doing you a disservice. When we find this, we tell you before any work begins: that specific area needs to be fully refinished. But only that area. The rest of your cabinets may still qualify for Refresh & Care. You get an honest scope of work, not a band-aid.
